Milwaukee® Develops the First Brushless, 18V One-Handed Reciprocating Saw

Milwaukee Tool once again solidifies its leadership in the reciprocating saw category with the introduction of the M18 FUEL Hackzall  – the first brushless, 18V one-handed recip saw on the market.

Combining the power of M18 FUEL™* with a compact, ergonomic design the M18 FUEL™ Hackzall™ is a fast-cutting 18V one-handed recip saw. Delivering faster cutting in key plumbing, electrical and remodeling applications , the new tool allows users to make 220 cuts per charge at a vibration level of 9.7m/s².**

“Ever since we invented the Sawzall®, Milwaukee® has been the leader in reciprocating saw innovation. This leadership was further cemented when we created the one-handed reciprocating saw category in 2008 with the introduction of the M12 Hackzall. Now, we’re setting the bar even higher by introducing the first brushless 18V one-handed recip saw,” said Richard Powell, Product Manager for Milwaukee Tool. “With the launch of the M18 FUEL Hackzall we’re bridging the gap between the small, more compact Hackzall and full-size Sawzall® performance for several key applications including large diameter PVC, 2x dimensional lumber and EMT conduit. For users who primarily perform one-handed cuts, this tool will provide the fastest application speed, and superior control and ergonomics over any other 18V one-handed recip saw on the market today.”

The new M18 FUEL Hackzall combines three exclusive innovations – the POWERSTATE brushless motor, REDLITHIUM-ION battery pack, and REDLINK PLUS intelligence.

The POWERSTATE brushless motor provides power through tough applications without bogging down. Combined with a 22 mm stroke length, the tool delivers the fastest cuts in its class. When equipped with an M18 REDLITHIUM-ION 5.0 Ah battery pack, the tool can deliver up to 180 cuts in 38mm x 89mm spf and over 220 cuts in 19mm EMT. REDLINK PLUS Intelligence ensures maximum performance of the tool under load and prevents against overload and overheat.

A dual gear counter-balance mechanism and pivoting shoe provide lower vibration for faster cut starts and reduced blade chatter in metal and PVC materials, minimising user fatigue and translating to smoother cuts and increased control.

The Milwaukee® POWERSTATE brushless motor also eliminates wearable components and, along with improved water ingress and debris protection, this helps the saw deliver a longer tool life.

Milwaukee® is committed to improving productivity by providing performance-driven and trade-focused solutions so users can perform an entire day’s work on one battery system. The new M18 FUEL Hackzall is fully compatible with the entire M18 line, now offering more than 120 power tool products.
